Forest Stewardship

Forest Stewardship

The Forest Stewardship Program (FSP) in American Samoa focuses on assisting landowners in actively managing their land and related resources, keeping land in a productive and healthy condition for present and future owners, and increasing the economic benefits of the land. It also provides educational programs and support in the creation and implementation of forest management plans while conserving the natural environment. FSP projects include tree pruning, native tree planting, education awareness, and nursery management. The collaboration and partnership between landowners and the Forestry Program have been strengthened and improved since the initiation of FSP internship program.

Forestry Greenhouse

Through the Aitasi Sameli Forestry Greenhouse, the program continues to collect, propagate, transplant, and distribute native trees for landowner clients, greenhouse visitors, and student tours.
