Oceania Tautua 4-h Charter Club and STEAM Expo

The American Samoa Community College (ASCC) – Agriculture, Community and Natural Resources (ACNR) Division 4-H Program, in collaboration with the Oceania Tautua 4-H Club and several partner agencies, recently hosted a STEAM Summer Expo event at the Great Life United 684 Assembly of God Church in Leone. The Oceania Tautua 4-H Club also received its 4-H Club Charter at the Expo.
ASCC-ACNR student accepted into the Haskell Environmental Research Studies Institute Summer Internship Program

A student from the American Samoa Community College (ASCC) has been accepted into the Haskell Environmental Research Studies (HERS) Institute at the University of Kansas (KU). Talofa Fe‘a, a Natural Resources major andpresident of the Green Force student agriculture club, will be attending the HERS Institute from June 6 to July 30, 2022.
ASCC-ACNR Completes Landscape Scale Restoration Project in Olosega

The American Samoa Community College (ASCC) – Agriculture, Community and Natural Resources (ACNR) Division’s Forestry Program completed one of its Landscape Scale Restoration (LSR) projects in the island of Olosega, Manu‘a. Along with the Olosega village and youth groups, the ASCC-ACNR Forestry Program, celebrated the completion of the LSR project with a closing ceremony on November 13th, 2021. The project focused on intensive management of medium to high priority areas for the island of Ofu and Olosega.
ASCC-ACNR hosts Halloween at the Farm event

The ASCC-ACNR Extension Program hosted its first annual Halloween at the Farm event at the ACNR Compound on October 29, 2021. The community-wide event served to educate the community about the work done by the ASCC-ACNR while bringing the community together to socialize, destress, and have fun.
ASCC-ACNR Forestry Program completes Landscape Scale Restoration Projects in Leone and Laulii

In June and July, the American Samoa Community College (ASCC) - Agriculture, Community and Natural Resources (ACNR) Division’s Forestry Program completed its watershed restoration activities in the villages of Leone and Laulii as part of the Landscape Scale Restoration (LSR) Watershed Restoration project.
ASCC-ACNR Forestry Program completes Landscape Scale Restoration Projects in Pago Pago

The American Samoa Community College (ASCC) - Agriculture, Community and Natural Resources (ACNR) Division’s Forestry Program completed another watershed restoration activity as part of the Landscape Scale Restoration (LSR) Watershed Restoration project with the village and churches of Pago Pago in May. This is the second LSR Watershed Restoration project completed by ASCC-ACNR Forestry, the first being with the Nuuuli village.
ASCC-ACNR hosts Breadfruit Agroforestry Workshop

The American Samoa Community College (ASCC) Agriculture, Community and Natural Resources (ACNR) Land Grant Division hosted a Breadfruit Agroforestry Workshop at the ACNR Conference Room on April 24th. This professional development workshop built upon the time-tested methods of Pacific Islanders, bringing traditional knowledge into a modern context while retaining the cultural roots of breadfruit.
ASEPA & ASCC-ACNR conduct Pesticide Applicator Training for Chinese farmers

The American Samoa Environmental Protection Agency (ASEPA) and American Samoa Community College (ASCC) - Agriculture, Community and Natural Resources (ACNR) Division conducted a special pesticide applicator training program specifically for Chinese farmers from March 4 to March 6, 2019, at the ACNR Conference Room. This is the first time Chinese farmers have attended a pesticide applicator training.
Samoa Minstries Staff Visit ASCC-ACNR to Learn About Little Fire Ants

The American Samoa Community College (ASCC) – Agriculture, Community and Natural Resources (ACNR) Division has completed its second Swine Artificial Insemination (AI) Project for local pig breeders. The three-month-long project familiarized pig farmers with AI as a scientific method to alleviate inbreeding and enhance sow fertility, genetics, and production.
ASCC-ACNR Invites the Public to Learn About the Little Fire Ant

The Agriculture, Community and Natural Resources (ACNR)/Land Grant Division at the American Samoa Community College invited the public to join them for a talk by visiting invasive ants scientist Dr. Casper Vanderwoude of the University of Hawai'i's Hawai'i Ant Lab in Hilo. Dr. Vanderwoude, who provided American Samoa with technical assistance after the detection of little fire ant on Tutuila.
